Auction for Fenix
Art shall connect our worlds
Dear teacher, dear young artists,
we are happy to announce the opening of the second annual collection of art works called Art Shall Connect Our Worlds. The collection is organized by the non-profit organization ParaCENTRUM Fenix which has been helping people with spinal cord injury in and around Brno for 16 years. The aim of the collection is to look for and present the best works of young Brno artists and in this way make them aware of the life of people in a wheelchair.
The submitted works of art will be assessed by a specialist committee consisting of artists, gallery owners and art specialists. Last year the committee comprised Katherine Kastner (Hunt Kastner Galerie), Lucia Lettenmayerová (Collett Prague/Munich), Denisa Kujelová (Fait Gallery), František Kinský (Kinský Art Media) and Michal Horáček (Czech lyrics writer and producer). The chosen works will go to a charity auction from which all profits will be donated to the services of ParaCENTRUM Fenix. A part of this will also be a vote on the most beautiful Picture for Fenix. The 5 most successful artists will be awarded prizes at the charity auction. We would like to have intensive cooperation with these talented young artists – the awarded works will be kept in a reference collection for the long term. Furthermore, they will be exhibited and used on occasions for charity and educational purposes. We are also considering a virtual sales exhibition with predetermined profits.
Like we did last year, we offer participants the possibility to present their paintings in an exclusive public space. Last year the paintings were exhibited for 2 months at the Reduta Theatre, in the amazing Mozart Hall of the Reduta Theatre where the charity Auction for Fenix took place. The whole event had positive reactions from the public, it was reported by the media several times and there were also reports by Czech Television – see drazbaprofenis.cz
We would like children to inspire each other and hand over ideas, feelings and experiences by means of their artistic expression. The project focuses on great values – it promotes love for art, and it teaches children to do good deeds. Children must find the urge and courage to create something, but also to part with the work for a good cause. In this way they learn responsibility and freedom to decide. An inseparable part of the project is teaching children about the life of people in a wheelchair.
From our experience the best award for the children and their parents was to become a part of the exhibition and the auction in the National Theatre in Brno. The photos from the event are proof of this.
